Interview/Review with the Michigan Daily

Audiences also reacted positively to the quirky and often volatile Donna Elvira, a betrayed lover of Giovanni’s who set out to prevent the troublemaker from causing any more mischief. Her portrayal in the song “Flee from the traitor!” brought many in the packed auditorium to their feet. The character is portrayed by Antonina Chekhovskaya, a graduate student studying music. When describing her role, Chekhovskaya alluded to Elvira’s deeply conflicted nature.“Donna Elvira is an interesting character to play because she’s so layered.” Chekhovskaya said. “She hates what Don Giovanni does but only because she loves him so deeply.”
